Hi everyone, I'M BACK!!!!!!!! Did you miss me. I have been bad about not keeping up with my responsibilities, my lame excuse is that my wife and I went to Phoenix,AZ. We attended the Keller Williams Family Reunion, along with 13,000 fellow KW friends. It was a great experience to be surrounded by so many happy people, I am pretty sure there was a little bit of alcohol involved. For those of you who are real estate agents out there, you should consider joining our little family. Keller Williams ranked 2nd in the USA in training their agents, to become the BEST customer service agents in North America and eventually the whole planet. Keller Williams is the only privately held real estate company while several other company's are being sold on the stock market to the public. Our head honcho Gary Keller says and I quote"we are an education company disguised as a real estate company". I will leave it at that. I wish the snow had stuck around a little longer than it did,say until April 1st. Hey, a guy can dream can't he. For those of you who whine about how cold it has been this year, you have no idea of what cold really is until you lived in Minnesota or Wisconsin for a very long time. So I say go back to where you came from or go to South Florida and stay there!!!!!!!!!!! BYE BYE for now, see you next week.

Recently in Scaly there is a group of business minded people who are trying to find ways to bring growth to the area. Yes there have been businesses that have closed their doors due to the economic down turn. I applaud their efforts to come together and find ways to bring any business to move here. They are up to the challenge and we as a community need to give them our support. The one item on the agenda that has received the most attention is changing the name. Word about town is that not many people are interested in changing the name. I granted some of the names that have been proposed are unique to our area. Bartram, Middle Creek and Winfield are all respectable names and are worthy of being our new name for our home. Just to add a little humor to the story, I would like everyone to remember that we are located in the Southern Appalachians. If you take the first two letters from each word, you get "SOAP". I know this sounds silly and garners a good laugh, but we couldn't or wouldn't want to live with this name. As William Shakespeare once wrote and I quote, "Whats in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet" I am not the messenger, so please don't shoot me. Things have a way of working out and I believe this will too.

Scaly Mountain, NC Life
As a resident of
Scaly Mountain, NC for 18 years, I have grown to call it home. There are
endless reasons why I have fallen in love with the area. The slow pace and
peaceful surroundings help me unwind after working all day. Just taking a walk
to my vegetable and flower garden a mile away, reminds me every time why I
enjoy living here. There is no shortage of activities here in Scaly Mountain. Starting
with the new Highlands Aerial Park…
I have talked to a neighbor who has experienced the zip lines on several occasions
and has enjoyed it every time. We have the Scaly Mountain Outdoor Center
which offers snow tubing and ice skating in the winter, to trout fishing and
tubing in the summer. There are hiking trails and waterfalls to enjoy if you
know where to look. One of the biggest reasons I love living here is the
rushing creek right behind my house. My wife and I will sit on the back deck in
our rocking chairs with an apple martini. We get a chance to talk about
gardening around the house, which veggies to plant in the spring or planning
our next vacation. Anyone who lives here can relate to the quiet surroundings
and the beauty of nature that we see every day. This is my little piece of
heaven on earth! More people will come to call it home.

listings on the MLS.
